meet the CEO / PRESIDENT

Jhan Nixon

Jhan Nixon started his career over 25 years ago with the US Navy. He began his career in the enlisted ranks working on Diesel Engines, Generators, Air Compressors, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Hydraulic Systems, Pumps, Motors and Ventilation Systems. Under mentorship from senior enlisted and officers, he became an expert at performing troubleshooting techniques, repairs, preventative and predictive maintenance within these systems.

Next Jhan extended his expertise to Gas Turbine Power Systems, including mechanical, electrical and electronic systems. Jhan particularly became adept in Gas Turbine Electronics. He quickly advanced to the senior enlisted ranks. During this period, he also gained an apprenticeship certification as an electronics mechanic and power plant operator through the Department of Labor.

Understanding the need to further his formal education, Jhan attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Workforce Education and Training Systems Development. He also completed a Six Sigma certification from Villanova University.

Jhan applied for a commission through the Navy’s Warrant Officer Program and was selected on his first try as the leader in Propulsion Engineering. He now managed all shipboard engineering systems, which he had learned from the ground up.

As a Naval Officer, Jhan held many managerial roles with increased responsibility until his final position as Chief Engineer and Material Officer for all US Navy Frigates. In that role he was responsible for the strategic and operational alignment of all engineering functions: congressional and operational inspections, training, logistics and supplies, personnel, advancement, new products, repairs and overall mission readiness of the ships.

After serving in the US Navy for over 20 years, Jhan retired and immediately went to work for GE Energy, Gas Turbine Manufacturing Plant in Greenville, South Carolina. He quickly transitioned into manufacturing operations and purchasing of machinery repair parts. Using his Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing skills, he was able to develop new processes, make things run more efficiently and effectively while ensuring hundreds of thousands of dollars in cost savings.

Jhan continued to have passion for growth and learning. He realized that industry and marine companies count on uninterrupted uptime and reliable equipment. Knowing his experience and contacts could help businesses reach their goals, he formed Innovative Industry Services: a Service Disabled, Veteran Owned Small Business that specializes in turnkey engineering, repair and maintenance solutions.
